Hawaiian Prophecies - Na Kupuna Na’auao

Perpetuation & Preservation of Ancestral Knowledge & Practices

Kumu John Ka’imikaua

Kumu John Ka’imikaua (teacher and source) of the Malo lineage, known  throughout the community as the key record keepers of Hawaiian ancestry.  John is recognized by many national Hawaiians as one of the leading authorities on Hawaiian Culture, and is regarded as a humanitarian at an International level.  In his 40’s John was honored the status of Kupuna among Kupuna (elders) as a source of knowledge.  Many State officials looked to John for wisdom and guidance. Since the age of 18, Ka‘imikaua has willingly carried this kuleana (responsibility) gifted him by Kumu Kawahine.  He was HPU’s first Kupuna-in-Residence.  His transition occurred on Tuesday June 6, 2006.
